Au Recycling
Adobe Photoshop Adobe Lightroom
We collaborated with Auburn Waste Management to create two posters and two buttons to promote recycling on Auburn University’s campus. For this project, I drew inspiration from one of my favorite designers, George Lois. In one of his advertising campaigns, Lois used oversized alcoholic beverages placed in major cities around the world to introduce the new beverage to each city. I realized that though my slogans and the images I would be able to catch the eye of everyone from a game day tailgater to a design student such as myself. I also wanted to focus on strengthening my skills in photoshop, so this became a great project for growth.
One request the client shared with me after our first meeting was that he wanted the images to be taken from high up, so that we were not looking up at the buildings. Therefore, to make this happen I took my camera around campus and asked local hotels and academic buildings to let me onto their roofs. I was thrilled with how the photos came out, so all that was left to do was to photoshop the bottle and cans. It was also important to me that the color of the skies matched, and that the text remained the same between the two posters. I then used the text as the primary element in the buttons.
After everyone presented their posters, the client chose four students whose posters they felt would be most effective on campus. I was so honored to be one of the four students to have my posters printed and put on recycling big belly cans around the Auburn Campus. I enjoyed my experience working with this client and I am so thrilled that my posters can have a positive impact on recycling on Auburn University’s campus!
