George Lois
Adobe Photoshop Figma
For this project we were tasked with creating a website design in Figma that highlighted a designer of our choice. I decided to base my website design project on one of the most influential designers of the 60s, George Lois. Though he did a lot of work in advertising, Lois is most well known for his ten years spent at Esquire Magazine. I used Lois’ magazines, ad campaigns, and some of the books he has written as inspiration for the website. For example, Lois loved collage style elements and overlapping with bold san serif type. The website provides information about Lois as a person and a designer. There are also photos of his work, and a timeline of Lois’ life from start to finish. The desktop and mobile views of the website mimic the 60s design of Lois to help the readers understand his style and technique.
I was honored to have this project chosen to be displayed in the Auburn University SIGD Kaleidoscope Design Show at the end of the school year.
