Novus

Novus is an app that allows new authors to post first drafts in order to get feedback from the public, look for inspiration, and become noticed by literary agents. Novus also allows readers to get in the loop early about some of their future favorite books, and it allows them to have a say in how the book ends. Also, authors can gain a fan base to have behind them by the time they take their manuscripts to the large publishing houses.

I wanted novus to be intellectual but also modern. The rounded sans typeface allows the logo to appear modern, but also approachable. The logo of Novus has six different phases that transition from a pen, to the Novus logo, and then to a book to exemplify the process authors go through from writing to publication. I animated the morphing process of these symbols in After Effects. This was the first time I had experimented with After Effects, but I am eager to grow in this area!

Overall, Novus conveys a sense of modern comfortability that new authors and readers would be inclined to utilize to enhance their literary experience. Novus creates a community of judgement free beginners that starts with the brand identity.

After all, every bestseller begins with a first draft.
